Geraldine MaryLOMASIt is with deep sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Geraldine Mary Lomas (nee Meagher) on 19th April 2026, at the age of 85. Preceded in death by her loving husband Dr Tom Lomas, of Bollinbrook Road, Macclesfield. Geraldine was a beloved mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin and friend. Known for her kindness, strength, and warm sense of humour, she touched the lives of many with her generosity, resilience and compassion. She will be remembered for the fun, love and support she gave so freely. She was born on 11th September 1940, Mount Merrion, Dublin. Having met Tom working as a Paediatric Nurse, at Our Lady's Hospital for sick Children, Crumlin, Dublin. She moved to Macclesfield in 1963 and worked at Booth Hall Children's Hospital, Brackley for a short time. She supported her husband Tom as he joined his parent's General Medical Practice, Cumberland House Surgery, Macclesfield. Here they built their life and family. She found great joy in raising her children, and her grandchildren. Geraldine took pride in supporting the elders within her family and community, she delighted in having a warm and inviting home, that was a constant source of refuge, joy, fun and laughter. Her presence brought comfort and happiness to those around her. Geraldine Lomas is a survived by her sister Anne Farrel and her children Paul Lomas, Susan Lomas, Cathy Meagher, Joanne Vitta, Frank Lomas and Maria Slaymaker. Her In-laws Alison, Steve, James, Ben, Josh and the recently departed Rudy. Her grandchildren, Sean, Emma, Oliver, Lizzie, Edward, Tom, Rachel, Florence, Annie, Jack, Molly and Mia. All of whom will carry her memory forward with love.

A requiem mass will be held at 2-00pm on 7th May 2026 at St Alban's Roman Catholic Church, Chester Road, Macclesfield, followed by committal at Macclesfield Crematorium at 3-30pm, where family and friends are invited to celebrate her life.

The family would like to thank all who lovingly cared for Geraldine, especially the East Cheshire Hospice, Hospice at Home care team. Though she is no longer with us, her love and legacy will remain in our hearts forever. Family flowers only please. Donations, if desired to East Cheshire Hospice.

Geraldine was always such a welcoming lady. She always showed an interest in my life and made me feel listened to. I have many happy memories of her growing up. I was very lucky to have grown up knowing the Lomas clan ❤️
