Derek was ‘uncle’Derek to me and my sister and brother (Jane and Stephen) as he and Liz were close friends of my mum and dad Geoff and Mamie Taylor. We enjoyed many family holidays together in Dorset and Wales, along with the Mitchell family. Derek was a lovely man, full of kindness and humour. My condolences to his brother Peter and family.

I worked with Derek at Kenton school for a number of years in the late 70’s and early 80s . He was a fantastic teacher and head of Lower school .. Staff and pupils had a great respect from him and he taught me a lot about the pastoral system as well as management of challenging pupils !!
Always fond memories of a wonderful man rest in peace Derek .. best wishes Cath Snowden (ne Davidson )

Sorry to hear of Derek's passing. He and Liz were good neighbours but more, good friends. Will miss our infrequent chats. Rest easy. Ian & Glynis.
