It is with deep sorrow we announce that Des passed away peacefully
at Liverpool Heart and Chest Hospital, Broad Green, after a recent cardiac emergency.

Beloved husband for over 50 years to Sue, Father to Thomas, Father-in-Law to Angie
and Grandfather to Lilian and Oscar, much-loved Brother of Jim, Terry, Patrick,
Maureen and Eileen.
He will be missed by his siblings' partners, children and grandchildren,
his own extensive wider family, and Sue's siblings, their partners,
children and grandchildren, as well as friends, colleagues,
former students far too numerous to mention.

We will say farewell to Des on Friday 27th February 2026 at 11:30am
in a funeral service at St Peter and Paul's Church,
161 Liverpool Road, Crosby, Liverpool L23 5TE
followed by the committal for family only, which will take place at Thornton Crematorium.

Family flowers only, please.
Should you wish to make a donation in Des's memory,
please make these to either the
Liverpool Heart and Chest Hospital, (LHCH Charity),

Sending condolences to Sue and all the family. I knew Des as my headteacher at Royton and Crompton School. When I first met him he told me (a maths teacher and NUT Rep at RCS) how he had been a member of the IS and had joined many picket lines. He treated the staff with great respect and made the school a successful and happy workplace. Des was one of the best.
