Clive was a Brilliant Guy all round, and excellent company, and full of fun, and it was a real shock to hear he passed away so suddenly. I was lucky enough to have known him for many Years, and would class him as a very good friend, someone who I would look forward to seeing all the time, as I knew there would be a new story, told in the unique way only Clive could do so, and he will be sadly missed by many Friends and Family, many of who turned up at the St. James Bar, to say their farewells to him recently. Our Thoughts and Prayers are with his Wife Helen, and Children Kate and John, whom I had the great pleasure of speaking with all at length yesterday, and I hope I gave them some sort of comfort at this terrible time in the lives...R.I.P. Clive Alexander Hallifax, you were a one off indeed, mate.....Roy Payne

So sorry to read about Clive. It was a privilege to get to meet him, Helen and the family albeit in less than the best circumstances. The love and devotion you all had for each other was palpable and our thoughts are with you all.
With much love ❤️

As an " account " customer of his shop since the early 90s I knew Clive well. He always had a story to tell, i recall tales about Doras in particular.

I always smiled when if asked for something he didn't have he " had just sold the last one half an hour ago " and " I have more in on Thursday ".

Cheerful and helpful, a lovely man and sadly missed.

I had the privilege of working for Clive at his shop Uplands Ironmongers for many years.
He wasn't just my boss he was a father figure and friend. We had many laughs over the years these were very happy times.
Catti cat was the secret boss of the shop and we did our best to please her. The shop was never the same without her.
Customers would become friends with Clive because of his kind nature and his fabulous stories, he truly was one in a million.
We send our love and sympathy to his beautiful family Helen, John, Kate, Luke and Grandson Tyler.
We will treasure the memories we have of Clive always
