Having only met Iwan nearly 2 years ago he was the first to greet us and make us feel welcome when we moved opposite.
He always smiled, always had a funny story and his knowledge of just about anything always amazed me.
Having only known him for a short time his passing has still left a gaping hole and he will be dearly missed.
Who’s going to tell me which way the wind will be blowing on any given day now!?
You’ll be missed Mr Evans .

Having first met my Cousin Iwan in 1968, it was soon apparent that he loved a good joke almost as much as he loved Jaffa Cakes: he was always willing to share both with family and friends alike.
Over many trips back to Blaenau we all learned of his passion for history, the mechanical and automotive echoes of times past, and the close study of the various villains found in the canon of Doctor Who. His easy rapport with fellow Welsh ( and Saxon ) steam engine enthusiasts took him to many engine shows throughout the land; his Willys Jeep restoration project was his pride and joy. In all respects he was a good man of his own square mile, loving his family both near and far.
While this love rarely extended to the sharing of The Blessed Pringles, it was an honour to share our time with him. His time is now cut short, and we shall all miss him terribly.
Cousin Julian.

I only had the pleasure of meeting Iwan a couple times, but am so happy I did. He welcomed me warmly to Wales when I visited with Melissa and family and helped me learn more about their family history. I’m really glad I got to meet him and spend time with him. His knowledge and sense of humour will be missed.

My first trip across the pond to Wales was punctuated by Iwan welcoming me into the family. With a story to tell, a space mission fact to teach, and a can of Pringles to share, this sweet, jovial man made me feel right at home. I was lucky to be given a tour of Iwan’s workshop and even whisked around Blaenau in his vintage war-time vehicle that he took so much pride in. How lucky are we to have been able to share even one afternoon with Iwan?

Our sweet, silly, beloved cousin. Keeper of the family lore & purveyor of the Pringles. Iwan will be dearly missed by us all, he was such a lovely presence in our lives and we cherish our memories with him during our many visits to Blaenau. xo
