The heavens are one star brighter now…

Thank you to everyone who has shown my family and I so much love and support over these past weeks. It has meant more than we can say.

Thank you also for the many cards, flowers and messages we have received - every one of them has brought comfort.

We are very thankful to those who travelled from near and far to attend Dad’s funeral, and to those who joined online from around the world, helping to give Dad such a fitting send‑off and celebration of his life.

We are also deeply grateful for the very generous donations made to Macmillan in Dad’s memory, both online and on the day. The kindness shown has been remarkable.

My Dad was a brilliant man - brave and strong, immensely kind, and hugely intelligent. We are proud and honoured to have had him as such a big part of our lives. We will miss him dearly.

The service, the tributes, the photos and stories shared on the day were heartwarming. Thank you to everyone who has been part of Dad’s life, he was immensely grateful for the love, friendship and support of his family, friends and colleagues over the years.

John was a truly warm hearted man and, despite being in the office with him, I never worked directly alongside him. My loss indeed. When I needed a friend, a sanctuary and space John afforded it to me. You are missed more than you could know. Thank you. Ian Jones

Uncle John was a man of great strength and stature, yet carried himself with a gentleness that made everyone feel welcome and loved. He spoke to strangers with the same kindness and genuine interest as he did to his own family and friends. He navigated illness and discomfort with positivity and such dignity, always expressing his gratitude for those caring for him. Uncle John showed us that true strength is found in kindness, generosity and a tender heart. He will be deeply missed, and remembered with a smile.
