In memory of dear Jean. I only knew Jean through work when I went to work down Taunton in 1998, for 5 years.
I retired in Feb 2003, and the office changed direction in the Nov. Things were hard going for a few months and paperwork was piling up, and Jean rang me up in January 2004 asking me if I wanted 4 weeks work, to catch up the backlog, well weeks turned into years but that's another story, Thank you Jean!!
Always a smile and very caring. She has been challenged with her health but had the support of her family and friends.Rest in peace Jean x

Jean was my Aunt, my Dad’s sister. He was extremely fond of her and they were close as children and throughout adulthood. If he were here now he would be telling us all stories of them growing up as an Irish family in London and the visits back home. As adults they took cruises together and often visited or caught up on the phone. He was proud of her work and family and spoke of her, Jessica and Martin often. Jessica and I are only a week apart in age and I have lovely memories of visiting Langport as a child and playing together. More recently I was glad to be able to spend time with Jean in Ireland after we spread my father’s ashes. She was always good company, despite any health issues she was dealing with and I loved her dry humour. I like to think of her and my dad as reunited and sharing a joke together. She will be greatly missed. Rest in peace, Auntie Jean.

Jean was a graceful soul. Always at peace with life, generous and caring. The only time I can remember the gentle smile slipping was at the end of a charity event in the 1970s. The challenge was to carry someone on a stretcher, but on the shoulders of six young men for a couple of miles. A smiling Jean happily volunteered to gracefully adorn the structure and off they went. A few hours later, the party staggered over the finish line and, unsurprisingly, the chaps looked totally done in. But Jean looked as if she was ready to be hospitalised. Sometimes, sitting around doing nothing isn’t as easy as it seems. Cheers, Jean xx
