I remember Liz well as a no-nonsense, caring and witty colleague in what was then the School of Education at the University of Manchester. I didn't work closely with her but she was a strong presence in the corridors and a very significant part of the counselling programmes here. My condolences to her family and friends.

Oh Lizzie. Sorry to be late (as always! Chris had to wake me up when I overslept for your wedding!) Summing up our friendship over 4decades isn’t easy.
The mischief we got up to! From nicking fags from the corner shop, taking our vodkas to the bus stop (only to find Chris was the flipping conductor), living in that scanky bedsit, through marriages, divorces, kids and losses.
Thank you for wearing the bridesmaids dress that you hated but knew it was all we could afford. Thank you (not!) for my surprise 30th when my boyfriend was only 21! Thank you for cycling round Corfu to cheer me up and having your cheek pinched my Maria- her food was so good. Also and most importantly for being part of my family and I yours.
I’ve missed you and now always will. My love to Sam, Sophie and Jon and to you, until we meet again old pal. Lynnie
