CeceliaWILKINSONMrs Cecelia Wilkinson, formerly of Brandwood, Newchurch, died peacefully at Willowbank Care Home, Burnley on Tuesday, March 8, aged 89. A Requiem Mass will be held at St Joseph and St Peter’s RC Church, Newchurch on Thursday, March 17 at 10.45am followed by cremation at Burnley at 12.15pm conducted by Father P Boast. Born in County Mayo, Eire, Cecelia travelled to Rossendale with her late sister Anna at the age of 17. She worked at Kearns Mill, Cowpe for a time and then met her late husband, Joseph Wilkinson. She later went to work at Newchurch Boot at Globe Mill, Ormerods at Hareholme, and retired at the age of 60 from J H Hirsts. She lived on the Edgeside Estate for quite a number of years, then moved to Booth Crescent and finally to Brandwood, Staghills. Cecelia was also an active member of St Peter’s RC Church, Newchurch and enjoyed spending time with her family, socialising with friends, holidays and eating out. Grandmother to her late grandson Lee, she leaves behind her son Kieron and his wife Anne, daughter Geraldine and her husband Graham, six grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, one great, great-grandchild, her sister-in-law Mary Nuttall and her cousin Margaret Moffet, two nephews and many friends.
