Nigel AndrewWHIELDONIn Loving Memory of Nigel Andrew Whieldon 17th May 1946 - 20th April 2025

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Nigel Andrew Whieldon - a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend - who died peacefully on 20th April 2025 after a brave seven-month battle in hospital. True to the way he lived his life, Nigel faced each day with strength, determination, grace, and remarkable resilience.

Born on 17th May 1946, Nigel built a life centred on the values that defined him: hard work, kindness, loyalty, and generosity of spirit. After qualifying as a solicitor, he went on to set up his own practice, NA Whieldon & Co, in Sandbach, Cheshire. Over many decades, he became a trusted figure to countless clients and colleagues, known for his calm approach, sharp mind, steady judgement, and absolute integrity.

Outside of his work, Nigel's greatest dedication was always to his family. He leaves behind his devoted wife and partner in adventure, Joan, with whom he shared a lifetime of love, laughter and journeys both near and far. Together, they built a life rich with memories, from raising a family to exploring the world in their later years.

Nigel was a proud and deeply loved father to his three sons - Matt, Dan and Ed - each of whom carries with them his strength, a strong sense of right and wrong, and loyalty. His seven grandchildren - Zach, Stan, Cody, Noah, Oliver, Maisie, and Evie - brought him enormous pride and joy. His legacy of strong values will live on through his family, a quiet but enduring influence for the years to come.

In retirement, Nigel embraced every opportunity to travel the world with Joan, always curious, always thoughtful, and always happiest when exploring somewhere new - preferably with a well-researched plan, a good view, and ideas already forming for the next adventure.

At home, music was the ever-present soundtrack to family life, always playing in the background, marking moments both ordinary and extraordinary. It was a constant thread woven through the memories he created with those around him.

Nigel was a quiet man, but with family and friends he always found the right words. Thoughtful, warm and perceptive, he listened carefully and spoke with kindness. His gentle humour, steady presence, and infectious laugh left a lasting impression on all those fortunate enough to spend time with him.

Nigel had that rare and precious ability to make the world around him better simply by being part of it. His resilience, unwavering loyalty, and generosity - whether with his time, advice or kindness - left a deep and lasting impact on everyone he met.

We like to think he's found the perfect place - somewhere from one of his many travels, sun shining, music drifting on the breeze - already off on his greatest adventure. His life showed us how much there is to see, to do, and to enjoy. As we make our own journeys, we'll take that spirit with us, and we'll keep the music playing.

We will miss him every day. But more than anything, we are grateful: for the love he gave so freely, the example he set, and the memories he leaves behind, woven into the fabric of our lives.

Safe travels, Nigel - Dad, Grandad, and friend - until we meet again.

Memories of Nigel from Mike and Barbara
We had the pleasure of meeting Nigel and Joan almost 32 years ago when our passion for showjumping collided and we bought a pony called Lucky from them.
We then met again on numerous occasions at showjumping venues in the UK and it was at one of these venues that we shared a memorable moment and one that was not to be repeated.
Nigel and Mike went to the bar to get some drinks for Joan and Barbara and themselves. The order was for two small beers and two glasses of red wine. After much hilarity and nudges of the elbow which was later shared by the girls ,Nigel and Mike appeared at the table with two small glasses of beer and two very large Pint Glasses
of RED WINE . It turned out the barmaid was a new-start and really had no idea of measures.
Of course we did tell the owner of the venue and we did pay for the pints of wine.
We also shared some amazing New Year festivities in Scotland
about which we should probably say nothing except to say that they were probably very memorable if we could only remember what took place.
Anyway we just want to say goodbye to Nigel , one of life’s true gentleman and we’ll fondly remember the happy times they were
shared together.
Sorry that we can’t be with you today but we’ll raise a glass to you.
Lots of love from Mike and Barbara a.k.a.haggis and sporran.
