Dai was a father figure to me, and many others like me.
And he was an actual father of 5 lovely people, Emma, Matt and Dan.
I haven't had the pleasure of meeting Zoe and Eve yet.
His real life stories about his years sailing around all of the oceans of the world, were literally epic.
He spent years after his sailing days working for Unit Super Heaters on The Strand, Swansea, as a Foreman producing heavy end steels fabrication of pipework that was exported around the world. Every past colleagues of Dai's I have ever spoken to has always held him in high regard.
His contribution to his community is everywhere around our home village of Killay. The famous Comm smoking room was down to Dai, there are hanging baskets, cuttings now trees, fences, compost heaps, sheds, lawns, hedges, paths, walls, timber garden boxes, and many other things all over our village, all Dai's work and graft.
Christmas won't be the same again because we're all going to have to buy our own lighters, papers and wrapping paper now.
He loved his children and his friends, and he showed it through action and being there.
Dai was a man who kept his family and friends together, he was a true stoic man who accepted life as it presented itself to him. And dealt with it with quiet love.
We can all learn from you Dai, you are missed my friend.
Have you got God into pool yet?
