AlanTOWERSMr Alan Towers passed away after a long illness at Blackburn Royal Hospital on Friday, November 12, aged 76. He leaves his beloved wife of 55 years, Barbara, his much-loved children Jane, Christopher, Catherine and Paul, daughters-in-law Julie, Lisa and son-in-law Colin. He also leaves behind his adored grandchildren and great-grandchildren, brother Edward, sisters Susan and Elizabeth, and their spouses and extended family. Born in Sedgefield, County Durham to Betty and Charlie Towers as one of eight children, he moved to Rochdale at a young age, eventually settling in Rossendale in the 1950s. After leaving school, he worked for Temperly’s, then moving on to be a driver’s mate. He held many jobs to provide for his growing family including landscape gardening, Lancashire Sock, and lastly Antrobus Plastics recycling until he took early retirement due to ill health. Alan enjoyed socialising when he could, listening to his favourite country music, and spending quality time with his family and friends. Alan will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by all. The funeral will be held on Monday, November 29, from 1.15pm, at Knight & Boys Chapel of Rest, Stacksteads followed by a service at Burnley Crematorium at 2.30pm.
