JohnSTOCKSMr John Stocks, of Ramsey Avenue, Bacup, died peacefully in the Royal Blackburn Hospital on Friday, September 3, aged 90. A service will be held at St Mary’s and St Anselm’s RC Church, Bacup on Thursday, September 16 at 12.30pm. This will be followed by cremation at Accrington Crematorium at 1.40pm conducted by Father Chris McGrane. Born in Bacup where he lived all of his life, John started work at Deerplay Colliery, Bacup employed as a miner and went on to become a Deputy. He moved on to work at K Steels, Darwen from where he retired as Managing Director. He enjoyed fishing and was a member of Lumb Valley Anglers, playing the organ, but was most happy being surrounded by his loving family. He leaves his wife of 69 years, Ann, daughter Karen and her husband Keith, son David and his wife Bernadette, granddaughter Rachel and her husband Nick, grandson Daniel and his wife Zowi, and great grandchildren Lily, William and Jessica.
