ValerieRAMSAYPassed away, aged 70 years, at home in Ince Blundell of Leukaemia after a courageous two year fight against Ovarian Cancer.

Val had worked at Royal Life as a Payroll Manager, at Moorcroft's Solicitors as a Practice Manager and at Citizen's Advice, leading the team organising the national training of volunteers.

Val will be sadly missed by her husband, Ron Barker, her three step-children Mal Barker, Dawn Mahood and Heidi Barker, as well as her six grandchildren, Matt, Jessica, Holly, Lewis, Natassia, Lauren and one great grandchild Myla and the whole of the Ramsay Clan.

The funeral service will take place on Monday 4th August at 12.45 pm at Thornton Crematorium, Lydiate Lane, Thornton, L23 1TP.

Val has requested if possible that friends and family attending to celebrate her life wear shades of purple or lilac.

Val also requested no flowers, however any donations should be made to Ovarian Cancer Action, a charity about which Val was passionate.

I will miss my long-standing friend Val. We sat together at school, went on holiday together to Spain when we were only 17. And when I spent time in Africa with my parents, we kept in touch with each other. I used to look forward to her letters from England. She was bridesmaid at my first wedding and I was bridesmaid at her first wedding. Val was a wonderful person. We were always at ease in each other’s company.
