Norman WilfredPEARSONMay 24th 1927 - May 21st 2017 Norman spent thirty years of his career training teachers in Mathematical Education in Merseyside. Starting as Principal Lecturer in Mathematics at Ethel Wormald College in the 1960s, he went through the various mergers of Colleges of Higher Education and finally retired in 1993 from Edge Hill College, where he was lecturing to Postgraduates. During this time he volunteered to give specialist advice on numeracy at Springfield Special School in Knowsley. He worked with severely disabled children, some of whom were eventually able to join mainstream school classes for exam work and go on to Further Education and University. He was Chairman of the Board of Governors at the school for several years. He leaves his wife Marjorie, his son Tim, grandsons Louis and Michael and their families. He is greatly missed.
