Jean MargaretMYHILLIt is with immense sadness we announce that Jean passed away peacefully at home, following a long battle with Motor Neurone Disease (MND) on Friday 20th February 2026, aged 78 years.

Jean was a loving wife to Roy, a devoted mum to Kevin & Neil and a much-loved sister, nan, grandma and great nan. Jean will be sorely missed by all her family and many friends.

A service to celebrate Jean's life will be held at Markeaton Crematorium, Derby (Main Chapel) on Wednesday 18th March 2026 at 10:00am. Those attending the service should not feel the need to wear black and are encouraged to dress comfortably.

Family flowers only please. Donations made in lieu of flowers will support the work of Treetops Hospice Care. These may be made at the service, online at rydefunerals.co.uk or cheques made payable to the charity may be sent c/o Thomas Ryde & Son, 35 Bridge Street, Belper DE56 1AY.

Those unable to attend the service in person can contact the family (or the funeral director) for details on how to access a webcast of the service. Jean's family thank you for your support at this difficult time.

Nan you have always been there for every single time I needed you. You taught me to try and be positive always through my struggles my childhood memories with you and grandad are just the most amazing all the holidays, days out and so much happiness laughter and fun. You were the most wonderful best Nan I could of wished for and didn’t think you could Top that becoming a great Nan to Jackson and creating the same memories for him you did for me is just the most wonderful thing and always helping me through the struggles of parenthood too. You are the most beautiful kind person and I will miss you and love you forever. I promise I will look after grandad xxxxx

You taught me what it takes & the strength to go after and live the life you want away from the norm from your own experiences! You are the biggest reason I fight for what I want. You talked me through it all, you followed every step! You even travelled and stayed with me the night before the first big step!

I wrote to you before *why I love you* so you knew because after is too late. People need to know now! So now I'm going to tell everyone why I love you too.

You taught me to be adventurous, to cook, that treacle on toast is the best invention ever, to work hard, to love deep, line dancing, my love for canal boats, that geo cashing and long walks were always worth it when your Sunday dinner was on the table!

Daisy chains, the out doors, the staple Christmas bubble bath gift, the closet upstairs you stocked with gifts throughout the year for all, the cup dolls and books, raffles, the photo printer we never figured out, the swimming days , the Disney trip, the holidays, my dinner special fork you kept to this day to ensure I ate happily, our cupcakes & Shepards pie, our special coffee & cake trips on my lunch breaks, pantomime and makeup photoshoot!

You gave me a childhood to remember & to forever be thankful for! Your strength is unmatched and love never ending! I love you. Beth
