From the moment I met Bernard at the Sheffield Top Docs, i knew he was someone special. He was a volunteer befriender for the Macular Society. I was, at the time, his Regional Manager. He, quite simply, changed peoples lives. He would research who to signpost people to and support them so much. He then took over the group in Hull and was able to support so many more people. I would look forward every year to the picture of the wonderfully decorated Beverly Christmas tree, which reminded me that the area was served by so many people giving their time to spread the word to look after your eyes. Thank you from the bottom of my heart Bernard, I feel privileged to have known you. My thoughts and prayers to the lovely, kind, Heather and the family. Love from Michelle xx
