To know grandad was to love him. He was the kindest, most gentle person and was adored by everyone that met him. He was always on hand with a joke and was a wind up merchant, in the loveliest way, to his core.
He was always up for a good gossip and ready to put the world to rights. I will miss our car journeys (even the notes he had on my driving) our chats and winding each other up until one of us took it too far and the other went in a huff.
I am so proud to be his granddaughter, of the fight he fought to keep going after he lost gran and the fight he put up in the last few months when he was so poorly. The world needs more people like grandad.
We will always talk about you and always think about you.
Have a good sleep, angel.

The loss of someone you know is always a sad time, but the loss of a true friend is much harder. This is most certainly true of Bill, a real gentle man who would support and help anyone if he could. I had the greatest honour to have worked along side of him from the late 80's in my TA days until he retired. This is the kind of man I would have trusted with my life. We had many laughs over the years in service, and I will remember those times with a smile and perhaps a tear too.
Bill, you certainly were 'one in a million', and I thank you from the bottom of my heart for being a friend. Until we all meet once again on the other side, rest in peace my friend.

Rest easy soldier, your duty is done.
