NevilleFORDNeville Ford, of Lily Street, Bacup died peacefully at the Royal Blackburn Hospital on Wednesday, January 11, aged 92 years. A service will be held at Trinity Baptist Church, Bacup on Friday, January 27 at 10.30am, followed by interment in Bacup Cemetery at 11.30am, conducted by the Rev Dave Bartram. Neville was born in Bacup where he lived most of his life. He began work at the Fibre Board and Dye Works and later began an apprenticeship as a painter and decorator. Due to serving his apprenticeship, his National Service was delayed until he was 21 at which point the Korean War started and he served in this for most of his time in service. He was posted on the most contested piece of ground known as The Hook, being surrounded on three sides it was attacked many times. At the end of the war, he returned home on a troop ship. Neville worked on the maintenance team with his brother Derek at The Valley Supply Co. for many years where he carried out a wide range of work up until his retirement. He was a very active member of Trinity Baptist Church and after the original building was condemned, again alongside his brother Derek, played a big part in the transformation of the Sunday School into a multi-functional church building. Neville was a wonderful, kind and generous gentleman who was an amazing husband, dad, uncle and Pops. He leaves his wife of 66 years, Mavis, son Peter, daughter-in-law Anita, grandson Dexter, brother Peter, sister Mary, nephews, nieces and many friends. He will be sadly missed as he gave so much. Family flowers only, donations in lieu to the Mission Aviation Fellowship Charity www.maf-uk.org/ Anthony Johnson Funeral Services Ltd, Bacup

So sorry to hear of the passing of Neville. He was a kind man with a warm personality, and a beaming smoke. who loved to recount his many stories. He had a great sense of humour and I have fond memories of him playing father Christmas at many of f the family parties. Rest in peace Neville
