JohnDAVIES(Composer of "Swansea Town", former teacher Morriston Comprehensive School and Deputy Head teacher Brynhyfryd Junior School)

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our wonderful John who passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on Saturday 6th September 2025. He was the much loved husband and soul mate of Lesley and devoted father of Rhys and Anna of whom he was so proud. His two grandsons Harri and Fin were such a big part of his life and they will miss his love, his words of wisdom, his music and his poetry. Many happy hours were spent with the staff and children of Brynhyfryd Junior School especially his choir and after school guitar group. He lived a full and rewarding life and will leave a huge hole in the hearts of those who knew him.

For those who wish to pay their respects, the funeral cortege will leave from his home in Derwen Fawr at 12.15pm for service to celebrate John's life which will take place at Llanelli Crematorium on Tuesday 30th September 2025 at 1pm. All friends of John are welcome to attend.

No flowers by request please. John would want you to choose a charity of your own choice which is close to your heart, if you would like to make a contribution in his memory.

Dear Lesley, Rhys and Anna

Being unaware that John had been unwell, Angela and I were shocked to see his obituary in the Evening Post. I first met John in 1966 when he and I had just arrived at Barry College as first year mature students and soon became close friends. I have many fond memories of those days. Our friendship grew and after College we formed Seatown Morning. The song Swansea Town was first publicly performed at the St Joseph's Club, Swansea and was enthusiastically received.
