When I think about Gill, I think about family. Gill and Roger used to open their house to their children’s friends (including me) and welcome us as if we always belonged there. Gill was warm and kind and would forgive daft (and often drunken) teenage behaviour with laughter and support, rather than judgement. The Brown household was always a place of fun and joy - I can’t help but smile when I think back to those days!

I have been privileged to watch Gill’s family grow (albeit from afar) and to see the unwavering bond between them all, as well as see Gill battle on and eventually thrive following the loss of her soulmate, Roger.

Gill reached out to me when my own husband died, sharing her warmth and kindness again as she had done all those years ago when I was a kid. She was a wonderful big-hearted woman, a bright shining light, and she will be missed by so many.

Such a beautiful kind lady, who would stand and have a chat. Will always remember with fondness giving her a big cuddle in Sainsburys and Debby then telling me she isn’t touchy feely like that! ❤️🥰
