I knew Bill many years ago when I modeled for him when he was painting the monochrome paintings for the Casablanca club in Liverpool. He said I had the same features as Ingrid Bergman. Bill was a fabulous and lovely guy, he used to live in Moorfields in what was an office and I always remember him having fresh coffee brewing in a silver pot on a stove and wearing a black Beret. He looked every bit the artist and his sense of humour was second to none and it was reflected in his paintings. He did a pastel sketch of me and called it Caran-Dash (the name of the pastels and my a play on my name (Karen). His work is phenomenal, so precise it was like a photo as opposed to a painting with great attention to detail. I am also an artist and graduate of art school so it was fun learning a lot from Bill. Bill in my opinion was one of the greatest artists of all time. RIP Bill, I have missed you for years and will now miss you forever. You were what art was all about and always will be. I admire you and your work greatly, always have and always will. It was a great honour to know you. Love you and love your work and will forever. So sad to learn you passed over, what a massive loss to the world but your legacy will live on as it should do as you are a true legend and a gentleman. Kaz (Caran0Dash!). XX
