I was a bridesmaid to Valerie when she married Brian, along with her sister, who was about the same age as me. Brian's mother was my mother's sister and my aunt. While they were living in Nuneaton, we saw Brian and Valerie occasionally, and I remember visiting them when Jill was born. I remember she and Brian both worked at the George Eliot Hospital in the Pathology Laboratory. (Path Lab)
In retirement Brian went on line to find out his family history on the Ashman side. We visited them in their bungalow in Combe Martin and saw their very steep garden. They were both very gifted academically, but Brian enjoyed snorkelling in the local bays, too.
