PeterANSLEYPeter Ansley, a beloved husband, dad, grandad, and friend, passed away at the age of 87 on Monday 12th May 2025.

Born on October 24th 1937, in Rotherham, Peter was one of six brothers and the much loved son of Jessie and William. Peter was the heart and soul of our family - a truly remarkable gentleman whose kindness, warmth, and quiet strength touched every life he encountered.

Peter was the adoring husband of Mary, his wife of 63 wonderful years. Together, they built a life full of love, laughter, and unwavering support. Peter was a devoted father to Julie and Nicholas, and the most incredible grandad to Abigail, Oliver, Chloe, Kimberly, and Bailey. He didn't just love his family - he lived for them. His face lit up in their presence, and his love was felt in every word, every gesture, every quiet moment shared.

Peter had a rare and beautiful way of making the ordinary feel extraordinary. He cherished the simple pleasures: a newspaper with his morning cup of tea, egg and chips for tea, and his favourite evening tipple - a whisky with dry ginger. He found peace in his garden and could almost always be found pottering in his greenhouse. He loved music, crosswords, and the gentle stillness of a quiet day spent fishing. In these small, steady joys, Peter showed us what it meant to live a full and meaningful life.

He was a man of deep integrity and boundless generosity. To know him was to love him. He made you feel safe, seen, and valued - just by being who he was. Peter also had a brilliant sense of humour - quick-witted, dry, and full of charm. He could always make people laugh, often when they needed it the most, and kept that spark of mischief and wit right until the very end.

Losing Peter leaves a space that can never truly be filled. The depth of our love for him is matched only by the depth of our grief. Life will never be the same.

He was, quite simply, one of a kind. A truly amazing man who gave so much and asked for so little. Until we meet again.

Peter's funeral will take place on Wednesday, 28th May 2025 at 10:30 AM. at Huddersfield Crematorium. All who knew and loved him are warmly invited to join us in remembering and celebrating his remarkable life.

Grandpa, I am heartbroken to have lost you - but that's the price I have to pay for 30 wonderful years with you. I will never be able to say all I have to say, so really I just want to say thank you.
Thank you for the best childhood anyone could ask for: thank you for teaching me how to paint, how to grow, how to fish, how to spell, how to solve puzzles, how to draw, how to make mince pies... As I grew older, thank you for not only being a grandpa but also a friend: for always knowing the right thing to say, for always making me laugh with your wit (my goodness you were funny), for always making sure I got home okay (because I will always be your baby).
Grandpa, thank you for raising me like your own. I am the luckiest girl in the world. I couldn't have wished for a better grandpa and I feel so so proud to call you mine. You knew how much you meant to me and in that I find some comfort.

Grandpa, you truly are one of the greatest loves of my life.
I will carry your memory, your legacy in my heart forever. Until we meet again. (And you better be right there waiting for me)
I love you for eternity.

Your sweetheart, your abs xxxxx
