David JohnANDREWARTHAIt is with great sadness that we announce the passing of David Andrewartha, who died peacefully on the 30th, September 2025 in West Cornwall Hospital, at the age of 88.
Born in Penzance and having attended Lescudjack school, David ran a successful removal company and four furniture shops across West Penwith, including Andrewartha's in the Greenmarket.
David was a keen sailor and a member of Mounts Bay Sailing Club and Helford River sailing club and would regularly cross the channel in his beloved boat, Pumpkin. David was also a seriously enthusiastic walker who would think nothing of completing a 25-mile hike across West Cornwall accompanied by a faithful hound. Latterly David was equally happy in his native Cornwall as he was in his adopted home in Southern Spain.
David is survived by Dianne, his wife and soulmate of over 26 years, his children, and grandchildren.
The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to everyone that has helped with David's care, including the team at the Atlantic Surgery, all the Community Nurses that supported David and the staff at West Cornwall Hospital and Cambourne and Redruth Community Hospital - thank you all.
In accordance with David's wishes a private funeral service will be held shortly.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Flicka Donkey Sanctuary in Penryn or simply raise a glass, or mug of tea, and make a toast to David for fair winds, sunshine, and following seas.
Though David is no longer with us, his spirit, enthusiasm, and love of life will live on in the hearts of all who were privileged to know him.
