It was my privilege to have known Anne as a colleague and friend for nearly fifty years. She worked tirelessly to promote the welfare of the many children and young people, and their families, who came under her professional care, combing a huge compassion with a forthright directness combined with a quickness of thought which she herself would trace back to growing up as a farmer's daughter in the Holme Valley. Unlike many, when dealing with persons of influence and status, she never put her own personal interests first. Her respect had to be earned.
The other abiding focus of Anne's life was her family for whose welfare she was totally concerned and committed, They must be missing her hugely.
She will remain in my memory as a character not unlike Mr Valiant-for-Truth in John Bunyan's 'Pigrim's Progress'.

She was a wonderful lady whom I remember fondly from royd edge school.
Most of us didn't know what affection was until we had a hug from Mrs mallinson. .
She was always there to listen or help in anyway she could. Thankyou so much for the kindness you showed me . I will never forget you lynne Baldwin xx

Anne was a truly remarkable woman. I got to know her as the Head of Nortonthorpe School when I worked as an Education Officer in Kirklees. She gave of her all in ensuring that her pupils had the best possible experience whilst they were at Nortonthorpe and did all she could to give them , and in many cases members of their families, a positive future.
I kept in regular touch with Ann after I left Kirklees and we met up regularly. Whilst she didn’t enjoy the best of health in recent years, she lived life to the full. It was a pleasure to be her friend and I will miss her. God bless you Anne, Penny Robson
