Lorna, we are so saddened to hear of your untimely passing. You left this world far too soon, and far too young. You touched the lives of so many and this will be your legacy. You lived with a kindness that was instinctive, not performative—a genuine compassion for others, especially those who were struggling or vulnerable. You didn’t just sympathize; you listened, reached out and gave of yourself without hesitation. Whether it was a friend in crisis, a family member in need of comfort, or even a stranger who needed a gentle word you were always willing to be there for others. In your work as an OT I’m sure you were amazing.
Gifted in so many ways, your beautiful singing voice and gift for music, you had a mind that sparkled with creativity and intelligence. Your words—whether written or spoken—carried truth and beauty. You could express what others struggled to say, with eloquence, insight, and often, a quiet humour that made people smile. I treasure a poem that accompanied one of your thoughtful gifts.
The greatest gift was how deeply you loved your Mum, sister Emma and your Dad. Your family was your heart and you carried your love for them with such tenderness, always putting them first, always finding ways to show up, even in small, everyday moments. You are and always will be a daughter, a sister, a friend—each role carried with humility and strength, with loyalty and warmth.
My thoughts and compassion extend to your devoted family. The suddenness of your loss leaves a silence that’s hard to fill. But amid the grief and in the difficult days I hope memories of you will shine bright, your laugh, gentle words and indomitable strength. We honour your life by remembering the way you lived.
With great affection, Karen and Alan Young.
