Vernon ArthurHADFIELDDied peacefully at Heol Don Care Home Cardiff, with family beside him, one day before his 100th birthday.

Vernon served as a Radio Officer in the Merchant Navy for 5 years including on Atlantic convoys during wartime and was involved in landing troops on D Day. Thereafter he was a Telecommunications Engineer and Area Manager for Telephone Rentals. Married to Mary (died 1963), then Glenys (died 2023) and father to Gill, Linda, Elizabeth, Alison and Jon, who will miss him as will his many grandchildren and great grandchildren.

A funeral will take place at Briwnant Chapel, Thornhill Crematorium, Cardiff on Tuesday 3 June 2025 at 12 noon. No dress code.

Family flowers only. Donations in lieu can be made to The Royal National Lifeboat Institution on the day or at www.greenwillowfunerals.com.
