Very sad news. I first met John in the Ritz Cafe in 1970 and from then on "Killer" and I became good friends. I enjoyed his stories and memories of life in the Royal Navy and our common bond was GTFC. Together with Bob Reynolds, Jack Lewis and Geoff Falkingham we had many memorable experiences and exploits over many years. John was always there when needed and no-one could have had a better companion than him. He will be greatly missed by me and many others. A truly good man.

Such a sad time, however Killer and myself had a friendship over many happy years. We travelled together following the Mighty Mariners in the 70s and 80s. Our discussions took place in the Ritz Cafe, the Fisherman's and Sands Club.I will look back on my times with this remarkable man with pride and happiness.
My condolences to Kay and family.
RIP mate.

John is the definition of a true gentleman, who could not do enough for those who knew him. We miss you dearly, but will remember you with that cheeky smile. Much love Clare and Martin x
