Neil was a son, a father, a brother, a friend and an uncle. His presence, in all its complexity, left a mark on those around him. There were moments of joy, humour, and tenderness that will be remembered by those who saw the softer sides of him.
I am choosing to remember and honour Neil not just for the life he lived, but for the life he wanted to live. In remembering him, I choose to see the whole person — the bright sparks, the struggles, and the hope that he carried in his own way. May he now find the peace that so often eluded him in life.
With love and quiet respect,
for all of us who knew him, and held space for the parts of him that were trying to find their way home.
Rest in peace, Neil. You were loved.
