Cousin Luke
You were my first friend. We grew up together, and most of my earliest memories from school have you in them.
Back at Crane, we spent so much time just being kids. I can still see us at the school discos, both of us with our hair spiked up as high as it would go, dancing away to Ghostbusters and thinking we were the business.
Even though you ended up in Lincolnshire and I moved to the South Coast, that history was always there. The last time I saw you was at your dad’s 60th party; we were grown men by then, but we ended up splashing about in the pool like we were ten years old again. It was like no time had passed at all.
Losing you at 44 is a massive shock. We’re the same age, and it just feels wrong that someone who was there at the very start of my life is gone. You are back with your dad now and you can take care of each other..
Rest easy, Luke.
My eternal love,
Lachlan
