I am so sorry to read the sad news of Johns passing, and that it has taken so long to find out. I worked with John on the Banff FPSO, where I was an Electrician, for a few Years. First in the Norh Sea, during the refit in Hamburg after being damaged in a storm, and eventually returning to the North Sea. As part of my repair work, many items had to be manufactured from scratch, so it was off to the Mechanical workshop to see John, ask his help and advice to get the job done, and he never once failed to come up with exactly what was required. It was a pleasure during those times to work alongside John, and we always managed to find something funny to laugh at. One time he had just bought a new Ford Mustang, and he was giving me a lift home to Elgin when our shift finished. He insisted that I had a go at driving it, and kept telling me to go faster, even when I hit 150 mph! I was terrified but he kept shouting "faster, faster!" I arrived home with sweat running down my back and John was laughing. That will be my lasting memory of John, a quiet, intelligent and hard working soul but a pleasure to work with, and I am truly shocked and saddened to learn of his passing. May he rest in peace. Many years have passed, and as life has taken us on different journeys, I still hold dear the memories of John, his sister Irene, and their lovely mother from our youth. I fondly recall our casual chats before the family moved away from Teaninich Street, and eventually, we too parted ways. Looking back, he was a handsome, polite, and funny boy. God bless your soul, John. Lord, please send Your ministering angels to surround those who loved John so dearly. May God's grace be with all of you during this heartbreaking time.
