The obituary notice of Rodney RICKETTS

Rodney was a superb musician and had a recognisable presence at Southlands School, that was, when I first met him as a teacher. He gave me my first singing lessons and a confidence to be on stage. Mischievous and supportive in equal measures, and a grin from ear to ear, he made for a flamboyant conductor. Fondly remembered. Paul tully

Rodney was like a father to me when I lost my dad at 17, we walked our dogs together all the time and my dogs loved him so much and always try to drag me to rodneys house on our walks. I will really miss him, he was a dear friend and I'm honoured to have known him for the last 10 years. He was a source of support and friendship for me, a very wise man. Sadly missed and not forgotten, such a loving, kind, caring, thoughtful friend I could of asked for. Knew Rodney for over 34 years from a cub scout to seeing him most mornings on my way to catch the school bus. Through difficult times to my civil partnership when he wrote our special music for our occasion, we couldn't wish for a loving, caring dear friend as Rodney.
