My brother (who arranged this obituary) had planned to include a reference to Mother as that “Lovely Mad Woman”: quotation marks and all!

Unfortunately, the Gazette’s input form apparently strips out chr(34) characters, so that little nuance was lost. Ah well.

My own tribute:

Mother, you were our Spark from Heaven. You looked after us with anxious care for so many decades. You prayed for us and carried our burdens. And ... you were a delight: witty, musical, endlessly creative and artistic. May we all be reunited one day.

Dear Bernd and Britta.

Thank you so much for your kind words. I hope you will come to the Requiem Mass on Friday: you would be most welcome.

During the Reception (which will be held from about 1.15 in the Parish Hall) we will be displaying some of Olive's art in an impromptu Art Gallery.

warm regards,

Toby Gettins (son)

We are neighbours of Olive and miss her sadly. We would have loved to see her paintings.
