Grandad was so special to me. He had a type of humour that no one else had. He’d love to do little silly things to spread joy to the grandkids from humming silly tunes to having pretend conversations with the dog Max. But most of all, he was always appreciative for the small things in life like no matter how many ties he got each birthday and Christmas he’d still be filled with excitement every time. Grandad will be kept in our hearts for many years to come.

I have always been grateful for David’s friendship and support when we were at Birgelen in the 1970s and afterwards working in Cheltenham. A true gentleman.

Will never forget the fun we had with you David researching stories for the Charlton Kings Historical society Bulletin, none more so than our famous The two lives of Harry Villar.

To my wonderful, hilarious, interesting, inspirational Grandad. I love you so much. Thank you for everything you’ve given all of us.

We miss your stories. We miss your kindness. The girls miss playing hide and seek with you behind the sofa.
