A lovely quiet and unassuming man who will be greatly missed.
I have happy memories of James playing the fiddle in our house and at ceilidhs when I was growing up.

Very sad to hear of James passing. My family enjoyed many a happy holiday in Croik in the company of James and Katie and their neighbours over the years. Many an evening of music and laughter was had by all. James was a great fiddle player and a very knowledgeable sheep farmer. Visited James last year and while he was a bit more feeble as we were leaving he was changing into his outdoor clothes and off to check on the sheep with the dogs. Croik will not be the same without him but what a legacy he has left behind. To Robert, Jennifer and all the family my sincere sympathy. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a Anam agus leaba i measc na naomh.

I didn't know James personally, but through his neighbours, my relatives, Roddie and Tracy Cameron, I got the news of how he was and the stories of days gone by on Forest Farm. Sincere condolences to his family, a kind and good neighbour, one of the old school. Sylvia Macdonald

Condolences to James's family, a great & knowledgeable sheepman of the old school, I always enjoyed a craik with him at the shows or Lairg sales.
The Forest farm tops at the lamb sale back in the day were a sight to behold. R.I.P.James.
