AudreyKEANEIt is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Audrey Mary Keane of First Avenue, Accrington, surrounded by family at the Royal Blackburn Hospital on Thursday 31st July 2025.
Audrey was the daughter of the late Herbert and Rose Hodson, a loving wife to the late Michael Keane, a wonderful mother to the late Joseph Keane and much loved sister and sister-in-law to the late Jack and Shirley Hodson. She leaves behind her daughters Rachel and Maria, her grandchildren on whom she doted; Jack, Harvey, Isaac and Isabella as well as her sisters Bernice, Margaret and her brother Kevin and many nieces and nephews.
Audrey began her teaching career in the 1960s at Holy Family and stayed throughout her career as it amalgamated with Paddock House to become Mount Carmel, where she was a maths teacher until she retired. She then moved to the UAE with her now late husband, Michael for nine years before returning back to the family home in England.
She enjoyed walking, dancing and music in her younger years and continued to enjoy socialising, shopping and holidaying with friends and family all of her life. Throughout her life she was a devoted member of St Mary’s Church in Oswaldtwistle and attended the Lock Street social club with parishioners, she also helped out with the St Anne’s Church Friendship Club for some time.
Requiem Mass will be celebrated for Audrey on Thursday August 28 at 10am at St Mary’s Oswaldtwistle, BB5 3EZ. Followed by a cremation at Accrington Crematorium at 11.40am.
Family Flowers only please, with donations to Macmillan Cancer Support or British Heart Foundation c/o Hyndburn Funeral Services, Queens Rd, Accrington.
