TheresaKAYOn June 12, peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family, Theresa aged 85 years of Oswaldtwistle. Dearly beloved Mum of Peter and Debbie, dear Mother in law of Tracy and Liam, dearly loved Grandma of Michaela, Jade and Courtney, much loved great Grandma of Lacey, Matilda and Jensen, dear Sister of Cath, Joan, Betty and the late Mary, John, Jim, Walter and Peter. Born in Manchester, as Theresa Melia, she was evacuated with her family to Accrington in 1939, shortly after she was born. She spent her younger years working as a seamstress whilst bringing up her children, Peter and Deb and enjoying time with her granddaughters. Grandma (as she was known to everyone who met her) spent her happiest years doing crosswords and drinking coffee in Accrington cafes during the day, where she met Robert. Her evenings were spent with a glass of Rose, doing jigsaws and puzzlers, watching her favourite shows and dining with the family. Grandma loved her food, but loved Rock & Roll and dancing more. She was the life and soul of every party, dancing the night away at each and every one, never leaving until they played her favourite tune - Rock Around the Clock. Every Paddy’s Do included Grandma dancing all night long with family, only stopping for the slow songs. These nights were always accompanied by silly hats and accessories for the perfect night. Grandma loved her fashion, always wearing a lovely outfit with little heels and a sparkly broach, having a matching scarf and handbag for each outfit. Grandma’s funeral will be a celebration of her life, so the family asks that you wear your favourite outfit, colour or something you love, to remember her. Funeral Service Time: 10.20am Date: Thursday, June 27 2024 Service Details: Theresa’s funeral service will be held at Accrington Crematorium chapel followed by Interment at Dill Hall Cemetery. Family flowers only please. Donations are being gratefully received in Theresa’s memory on behalf of Derian House. Very sad news. Theresa came into our lives having met our father Robert and they were so suited to each other, like 2 peas in a pod. Learned never to interrupt their crossword time together and their daily activities were like military precision. Same place, same time and they are both fondly remembered by many. She was always smiling and was brilliant company to be with and of course loved her Rose wine, a large one at that. For being our late dads loved companion for many years, she made him so happy in life and for this the Jones family will be forever grateful. Sincere condolences to Debbie and the family, it was an absolute delight to have your mum around our family and she will be very sadly missed by all. ❤️❤️ Gareth, Cathi, Maeve and the wider family.
