So very sad to hear about Paul’s illness and that it has taken him so quickly from family and friends at such a young age.

Paul was a reliable and inciteful colleague at Cheltenham BC, where I worked with his financial advice and support on many projects for over 30 years. He was never one for grabbing the limelight, but his visionary ideas for supporting the authority through many difficult annual funding rounds helped to keep the council solvent, when others were failing.

Whilst the wider public may have been largely unaware of his work, he certainly made an invaluable contribution to the well-being of the town he loved and we all owe him a debt of gratitude for that.

Paul was one of those people who when you shared time with you felt the richer for it
I admired and respected him as a colleague and as a human being. For his skills modesty and kindness. As a colleague he was peerless and we will miss him hugely. Rarely have I worked with a more genuine person who always gave of his best and never sought praise or reward for the effort he put in
I will always feel huge gratitude for having been privileged to know and to have been a recipient of his advice and friendship

Paul was a colleague, a mentor, but so much more than that too and to so many. It is an inexplicable loss.

I am struggling to put into words how I feel.

Life suddenly feels fractured, like an Eathquake has shaken everything to its core.

I never told him how important he was, but I think he knew. He was like that, confident in his ability to read people, situations, with an unassuming emotional intelligence.

Work and life has shifted, leaving a void, but my thoughts are most with his family, who’s grief will be exponential.
