The obituary notice of Gillian Phyllis Blanchflower GIFKINS (Neale)

I have such fond memories of violin lessons with Gill for many years from a young age - but she was so much more than a violin teacher, she was an inspiring role model. She was so much fun and so full of life and determination. I marvelled at her colourful front door, the beautiful ornaments she made (and generously gifted to admiring students...!), her fabulous painting, unusual plants and in reading her book as a young adult I was blown away by reading about her experiences... She taught me not to be scared to change direction in life. Her endlessly optimistic attitude to life and finding fun in all situations was hugely formative for me and I'm sure many others, as well as her determination to keep riding her bike! I'm so sorry I didn't manage to keep in touch and even sadder that I missed her memorial service but I send her family and friends all best wishes and will always remember Gill. xx

A beautiful, gentle, clever, funny rebel. Her little flat, full of music, kindness, bubbles, plasticine, hand-knitted jumpers, and laughter, was more magical than any grand house. She taught me to love creatures, to notice small wonders, and to be brave enough to begin again. I hope she’s somewhere with her daddy, and mine, riding her bike and playing her violin xxx

Gillian presenced the most spacious, remarkable silences I have ever known and was a mischievous playful natural spirit. It was a great pleasure to meet her and walk with her in nature.

Spiritual friendships occur and cannot be 'made' or un chosen it seems. Ya salaamo I wish her and her family peace in this life transition
