The obituary notice of Selwyn Lloyd GEORGE

I met a man and his wife in Mauritius when I was on British Airways business and was staying for one night because my flight had been cancelled. He and I talked whilst we awaited his wife. When she arrived, she asked if I had ever been to Egypt and I replied I had on Her Majesty’s Order when I was on National Service in the Royal Artillery and had spent 9 very warm months there until someone signed a peace treaty and we had to go back to freezing Salisbury plain. I was not pleased with that person and when he said it was him I was very embarrassed regarding my language but was met with laughter from both he and his wife. Clive Saunders of Bargoed and now Caerphilly. I have recounted this story to many a friend and I do hope they enjoyed their holiday in Mauritius.
