DavidDAVIESDAVIES - The funeral has taken place of David Wyn Davies, Pen-y-Maes, Brymbo who passed away on April 3rd 2008 at Wrexham Maelor Hospital. Wyn was the beloved husband of Megan and dearly loved Dad of Sian. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. He was born in Blaenau Ffestiniog, eldest son of the late Ceidiog and Frances Davies and dear brother of the late Tom. He lived in Blaenau Ffestiniog until he went to the Royal Navy. He joined the Royal Fleet Auxiliary were he served as a Senior Communications Officer for many years. After marriage he settled in Brymbo where he worked at B.S.W. as Security Manager until his retirement when Brymbo Steel Works closed. Wyn's interest were many and varied including travelling, wild life, stamp collecting and Telegraphy and Morse key collection - of which he was considered to be one of the most knowledgeable persons in the field world-wide. The Funeral Service and Committal took place at Pentrebychan Crematorium on Monday April 14th, 2008, and was conducted by Rev. Trefor Jones-Morris, assisted by Father David and Father Deiniol - both family members. Bearers were David Davies - cousin, Alan Griffiths, Peter Griffiths - nephews. John Williams, Douglas Cunningham and Tecwyn Jones - friends and colleagues. Mourners were Megan and Sian and many family members, also many friends and relatives who had travelled from all parts of the country as was reflected by the very large congregation who had gathered to pay their final respect to a well-loved and popular gentleman.
