SheilaBRINKWORTHSheila was born in Birmingham, and spent the latter half of her life in Belper, Derbyshire. She was predeceased by her parents, Sidney and Annie Brinkworth, and is survived by her sister, Mary Rowles, and her nieces, Alison (Steve) and Caroline (Lisa), all in Canada. Sheila was a strong, independent, and adventurous woman. She began her career in Uganda as a biology teacher, an experience that reflected both her curiosity and willingness to embrace the world beyond home. After returning to the UK, she continued teaching in Salisbury, before moving to Derby, where she was known for her steady presence and commitment to her students. Outside of her work, Sheila found great enjoyment in gardening and travelling, particularly within Africa. She had a deep appreciation for the natural world and took quiet pleasure in tending her garden and exploring new places. Sheila had a special bond with her cocker spaniels, whom she cared for with unwavering devotion. She leaves behind Dolly, who was a constant and cherished companion. A number of years ago, Sheila was instrumental in establishing Belper Open Gardens, in conjunction with the Belper Town Council. Her own colourful, cottage style garden was open to the public for a number of years. In her later years Sheila was able to navigate many health challenges thanks to the generous help and support which she received from her many friends, especially Ann Jones, Kevin and Amanda Allsop, John Hutchinson and Mary and Paul Melton. A private cremation has taken place and a celebration of Sheila's life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Sheila's name to the RSPCA. Sheila will be missed by her family, her friends, and her beloved dog, Dolly. All enquiries Tel:01773 822059
