Reverend Robert GeorgeBOULTERof St Margaret's Church Whalley Range died peacefully at home on Monday 27th July. His family wish to thank St Margaret's congregation and friends in the community for their kind support over the past few weeks. Robert was in post as Rector of St Margaret's and senior lecturer at Leeds Trinity and All Saints University. A private family ceremony will be held followed by a public memorial service later in the year. No flowers are needed, but donations to local food banks, charities supporting the Black Lives Matter movement and peace-promoting charities, would be most welcome. Having just learned of Bob’s death, I would add my own fond memories when we trained together in Canterbury at St Augustine’s. His ministry as a priest was inspirational. May you rest in peace and rise in glory.

Father Robert was living for the communities. We, the Hungarian Community in Manchester did not know this very sad and painful event. His death was very sudden, unexpected. He was living for the communities. I can say, his efforts and support were just about unprecedented. Many thanks for it. We will miss him. We will always remember him. Rest in peace.

Robert was always a friend of our family, my mum, siblings and later on my children and source of inspiration, fun, advice and.... left over cakes from sunday church service!

He leaves a sad loss not just to us but to the whole community. Having known him since I was a teenage boy, only in later life do I recognise some of his great work.

Some memories stay with me for example learning to being grateful. I remember I had an old bike, which I thought I was "too cool" to be seen riding and he took it, in his own time to give it to someone less fortunate who needed it to get around. This was not uncommon he was always helping people out.

Great life lessons and humility learn in conversations.
I hope you get the opportunity to have a commemorative service for the wider community to attend when government restrictions allow. It would be an honour and pleasure to attend.

I hope that when government restrictions allow, you will be able to have a community day or similar to remember your life as during this time it has not been possible.

I have only just stumbled on the belated news of Robert's death and have been saddened by it but also heartened to read the tributes from so many whose lives he touched. I first met Robert in the late 1980s when he was breaking new ground with multi-faith worship and which he continued to do. More recently I was always confident that when Robert was inspecting multi-faith church schools he would find the best in them and be most supportive. We are all lessened by the loss but enriched by his life.
