MarjorieWILLIAMSMarjorie Williams, 91, a beloved wife, mother and granny, passed away peacefully on October 10, 2025 in Edinburgh. Born in Hull on 23rd March 1934, she was the oldest of 3 children having two brothers Alan and Eric.
Marjorie talked fondly of her childhood which was spent in the small village of North Cave, near Hull.
She eventually went on to study at Ripon College to become a teacher.
She taught initially at Holme-on-Spalding-Moor in Yorkshire and had 3 years teaching in Mauritius,
before settling in Plymouth, where she met and married her husband Cliff with whom she had 2 children.
Marjorie was always fiercely independent, and with the help of some wonderful neighbours,
she stayed within her marital home in Plympton up to the age of 90.
It was only then that she decided to move to a care home in Edinburgh, to be within a mile of her daughter Susan.
Marjorie had a wide range of interests including baking, knitting, sewing, Girl Guiding and in her latter years she really valued the friendships and companionship that she enjoyed through the Whist Club and Trefoil Guild.
Marjorie is survived by her two children Andrew and Susan, and her grandchildren Euan, Benjamin, Elodie and Lottie, as well as the countless children she taught and supported both as a teacher and a Girl Guide Leader.
The family request donations in lieu of flowers to the Red Cross (should you wish),
for whom she volunteered in her younger years.
