Recently met up with a someone very special to me who I went to Plymstock School with in the early 80s. Both of us had fond memories of Mr Underhay - I'm sure we are just a few of many whose lives he inspired. For me, it was the words he told me after a case of severe exam panic - "What's the worst that can happen?" he said - whenever I've faced a difficult situation in my life, those words have always come back to reassure me. Thank you, Mr Underhay.

I’ve only just heard that Mr Underhay had passed away. I remember him coming to Elburton Primary School in June 1981 to prepare us for transition to Plymstock School. He allayed all of my fears and was an inspirational Head of Year and my maths teacher for 3 years. I’ve thought of him often over the years and I’m deeply sad to hear of his health battle. RIP Mr Underhay.

Dave Underhay was my form tutor when I started at Plymstock School in 1970, he was the first to call me Kate and that has stuck! He was a true gentleman and inspirational teacher, he'll be greatly missed. RIP Mr Underhay. Kate Hornsby (Skelly that was)

Dave - you were a tremendous colleague to work alongside. Always fair and just with pupils, and an excellent role model.
I was lucky to not only work with you, but to have you as Head of Year when I was a pupil. (81-86)
Rest in peace.

What a legend. You were always wonderful with me at school and I'm so glad I got the opportunity to introduce you to my daughter not so long ago. I will always remember you fondly. Your reputation will live long after you've passed. Sweet dreams sir, love Sarah (Rochford) x
