JeremiahTWOMEYJeremiah "Jerry" Matthew Twomey, 67, passed away peacefully, 1st November 2018 at the Royal Surrey County Hospital following a brave battle with cancer. Born and raised in South Croydon, the son of Matthew and Mary "Molly", he was a lifelong resident of the South-East region. Jerry attended St Mary's Catholic High School, Croydon and went on to work within the building industry, an occupation he held up until his passing. He married Linda in 1973, separating in 2010. Jerry had a passion for sports. Initially playing Sunday League football, he switched to running, his primary hobby, after joining South London Harriers (SLH) in 1982. In later years, he partook in badminton and was a keen member of the H. House Harriers. Jerry relished the company and joy of others; a true people person that lived for humour, kindness and helping others. He will be lovingly remembered by his three sons; Paul, Matthew, Jack, daughter; Louise, sister; Sheila (Harkin), three grandchildren, wider family and many close friends. A celebration of Jerry's life will take place at The Sacred Heart Church at 11:30 AM on Wednesday 28th November (Essendene Rd, Caterham CR3 5PA) followed by a burial service at Redstone Cemetery (Philanthropic Rd, Redhill RH1 4DG). Those wishing to honour the life of Jerry may make memorial donations to the Pancreatic Cancer Research Fund.

I knew Jerry from the late 50's. We went to St Mary's Secondary school in West Croydon where we all became great friends with Phil O'Hara, Brenden Curtis, Brian Melody, and others.
The scooter days with Phil, Tony Nortney & others.
The drinking sessions, Dr Jim's - Croydon, the Orchid - Purley, the Locarno - Streatham with Brenden and Roy Watkins ending up either at the pie stall in Thornton Heath or Kim's Chinese restaurant in South Norwood
And then the early morning call from Jerry and his Dad, Matt, to go off and lay a concrete floor in Leatherhead.
The holidays with Derrick Wilkinson, Micky Conroy, Brenden, Phil & Sylvia.
Most weeks's meeting up either lunch times or evenings to play squash with Jerry & Roy.
I was his best man at his marriage to Linda.
He was my best man when Ann & I got married.
As life went on & our families grew up, we always made sure we could meet up for a meal & a chat.
Great memories but my great friend who has been through it in the last few years he was always positive & had a laugh & a smile. A great example to us all.
He will be sadly missed. RIP my friend.
