ElsieTEBBUTTDearly loved wife of Gordon. Adored Mum of Linda, Paul and Karen. Loving Mum-in-law, Grandma and Great Grandma passed away peacefully on 29th March aged 89.
Elsie was born in Durham and came to live in Coventry as a baby. Elsie lost her father in a tragic pit accident in Arley at the age of 6. Life was tough for Elsie and her 3 younger siblings, but this molded Elsie into the wonderful adult she became. Elsie wanted to be a nurse, and she became a cadet at the tender age of 16. After she qualified, she became a district nurse in Coventry until retirement age 64. Elsie had always been a kind, compassionate carer for her patients and her family and was fondly known as the matriarch of the family.
Elsie's physical health started to decline and living at home became difficult. In June last year, Elsie decided with the family she would be best placed in a care home, Abbey Park. Despite being well cared for, it was hard for Elsie to be apart from husband Gordon though he visited nearly every day.
Elsie became ill and was taken into UHCW where she was very well cared for by all the staff. Elsie sadly deteriorated and died with both Linda and Karen by her side.
Mum, you were so very brave, but we knew you were ready to go, that made it hard for us because we loved you so. You will always be in our hearts. You brought joy, happiness and laughter to all who met you. You will be deeply missed by everyone.
A funeral service will take place on 7th May 2025 at 12pm at Canley Crematorium, Cannon Hill chapel.
Elsie's family request a 'no black' dress code if possible.
Donations in Elsie's memory will be raised for Baby Lifeline and Zoe's Place https://elsietebbutt.muchloved.com/
