To my second mum, Coreen – the woman who took me in and treated me as one of her own. May the Lord grant you eternal rest, and may His perpetual light shine upon you.
I agonised over whether to come home, but ultimately decided to stay here, hold the fort, and keep some sense of normalcy for when your beautiful daughter—my amazing wife—returns. I know in my heart you would understand, though I still feel the weight of guilt for not being there to see you one final time. For that, I am truly sorry.
I promised you I would always look after Corinne, and that promise stands until the very end. She is, and always will be, my first, my last, and my everything. Every choice I made was with her in mind, and with what I believed was best for her who you loved so much.
You were one of the kindest, most generous, and most decent people I have ever known. You were—and always will be—deeply loved and missed. I take comfort in believing you are now reunited with John, Kerry, your mam and dad, and all those you held dear, in that better place.
God bless you, Coreen. You will always remain in my prayers.
With the deepest love and affection,
Alexander
