I first met Paddy when I came to Newcastle to work at NGH in 1989. Over the next 20 years we worked together on most challenging situations doing our best for our patients. At work, Paddy was highly professional and skilled. A leader who managed a great team. Outside work, he was a delight to be with. He had a great sense of humour and a distinct laugh!
I will never forget his support at work and genuine friendship.
RIP big man!!

I will forever remember Paddy as a good friend. He had a great sense of humour, but did not suffer fools gladly. I along with his family, colleagues and friends will miss him dearly. Goodbye Paddy. R.I.P. 🌹😥

I first met Paddy when I was a student nurse working on his ward. For 41 years I have known him as a colleague at NGH and a friend. Rest in peace

We were different - we were the same.

He was from Ireland, I was from England
He was older, I was younger
He came here, I was here.

He had a family, I was a boy,
He was a man, I was growing up
He had a family - my family
He stayed, I left.

I learned from him,
I grew up,
I had a family - our family,
I moved there.

I met his people there,
I told them about him,
I was proud of him.

I still tell them
I’m still proud.
